Concert Band on stage

Black Fly Music Fest - 2010 Sponsored by Gravenhurst Pharmacy and Huntsville Hometown Drugstore

This year's Black Fly Music Fest will appeal to the lovers of concert band music. The Muskoka Concert Band, established in 1957, includes players from the entire Muskoka area. Rehearsing every Monday night, the band plays about twenty concerts annually in churches and theatres, at municipal events, Santa Claus parades, in park bandshells and at the Huntsville Festival of the Arts.
Neil Barlow, our conductor, is an active musician here in Muskoka, playing trumpet with The Northwood Brass and The Muskoka Big Band and leading those groups as well. He also plays with The Metropolitan Silver Band and The Intrada Brass in Toronto.
Neil has put together an excellent program for this year's Black Fly Music Fest. The program includes a selection of marches, classical compositions, Hollywood movie themes, Broadway show tunes and current Pop standards.
